Major work scheduled for summer

6th June 2017 by The Librarian

MAJOR RENNOVATION WORK in the main room of the Library is scheduled to take place over the summer, starting on Monday, July 3.

Inevitably this will cause some disruption to the day-to-day running of the Library, although everything will be done to ensure that the impact on members and volunteers will be kept to the absolute minimum.

We are determined not to allow the work to distract from members’ enjoyment of the Library facilities.

During this time if there is a particular book or DVD you require, or you have any other type of query, please do not hesitate to ask one of our volunteers for assistance; we are here to help.

Tea and coffee will be continue to be served on Wednesday and Saturday mornings as usual. We are rather like the old Windmill Theatre in that ‘We Never Close’; we will soldier on – minus the tassels of course.

Finally, don’t forget our Summer Lunch at the Masaru Hotel in La Paz, planned for Thursday, July 13, with a 1pm for 1.30pm start. Book at the Treasure’s Desk to ensure your place at this always-popular venue.

Refreshments are served in the garden on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

THE LATEST CROP of books added to the Library shelves include titles from three of the most prolific pens of the 20th and 21st centuries. The books of Wilbur Smith, James Patterson and the much-loved Maeve Binchy, who sadly died back in 2012, have collectively sold close on half a billion copies worldwide.
