Paying a return visit to The English Library is Ramón Michán, renowned local Philologist and retired Hotelier, who will give a talk entitled “The Cavendish Banana and a Murder”, on Thursday 13th February at 12noon.

When Aggie met Maggie – the genius of Miss Marple
The combination of Dame Agatha Christie and Dame Margaret Rutherford produced plenty of fireworks on the big screen so it’s appropriate that Library President Ken Fisher should give a light-hearted talk on the pair at the Library 12 12 noon on Tuesday, November 5.
The talk will be followed by a buffet lunch. Admission is €10 and you’ll need to be quick tickets for this one will soon be snapped up. As usual, book through the Treasurer’s Desk.

Don’t miss out on ‘Allo ‘Allo themed Murder Mystery lunch
THERE ARE only a few places left for our Murder Mystery lunch entitled A Knockwurst Too Far, to be held at the Petit Los Angeles restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz on Thursday, June 30.
In addition to the entertainment, there will be a three-course meal with wine at €17 per person. If you wish to attend, please leave your name at the Treasurer’s Desk.
A reminder also that our popular History Group is taking a short summer break until Thursday, June 27, when normal service will be resumed at 11am.
The Library continues to welcome visitors to join us during opening hours – Monday and Friday 3pm to 5.30pm and Wednesday and Saturday 10pm to 1pm. Refreshments are served in the garden on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
Anyone new to the area will find the Library, its volunteer staff and its members a friendly and welcoming group. In addition to its primary function as a traditional British library, it also acts as an important focal point for the British community living in and around Puerto de la Cruz.
We also have a programme of lively and popular social activities running throughout the year. Anyone contemplating retiring to Tenerife will find the Library, its resources, staff and members a great source of information because most of us have done the same thing ourselves.
‘Allo ‘Allo, who killed the airman with a knockwurst?

FOLLOWING THE successful first staging of a murder-mystery lunch last year, the Library invites you to join us again this year to identify the culprit who bludgeoned to death a British airman in wartime France with a large German sausage.
In A Knockwurst Too Far, you will join Inspector Le Strange to interrogate some familiar characters identified as the prime suspects – Rene Artois, Edith, Yvette, Herr Flick, Grüber and Helga
The popular Petit Los Angeles restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz will be hosting the event on Thursday, June 20, at 1pm for 1.,30. To join in the fun, simply reserve your place at the Treasurer’s Desk in the usual way. Participation, including lunch, is €17 per head.
