THE IMPACT OF BREXIT for those of us who are permanently resident here or are winter visitors to the island will be the focus of a talk to be given by Mr Tim Hemmings, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Madrid, at the Library on Wednesday, October 18th.
The Library has been asked to host Mr Hemmings’s visit to the north of the island. His talk, entitled The UK and Spain: Beyond Brexit will be open to ALL British residents and swallows to attend. The talk will be followed by a question and answer session.

The Library doors will be open at 3.30pm to allow for the meeting to start at 4pm. Please note that there is NO charge for admission.
This is your chance to talk to a high-ranking member of the Embassy staff who will be representing our interests as the Brexit procedure progresses.
If you wish to attend, please leave your name at the Treasurer’s Desk at the Library, message the Library through its Facebook page or simple email [email protected]
During his visit to the island Mr Hemmings will host two public events, the one here in Puerto, which will follow one held in the South in the morning. He will be accompanied on his visit by Charmaine Arbouin, British Consul for the Canary Islands and Andalucia, and Helen Diaz de Arcaya Keating, British Vice Consul for the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Obviously it is important that this message gets across to all members of the British community so if you know of anyone who does not routinely involve themselves in Library, Games Club or English Church activities please feel free to pass on to them the details of this important meeting.

An entertaining afternoon in the beautiful Library gardens saw the Fishermen’s Friends emerge triumphant yet again as outright winners of our annual Summer Quiz. The question is can they make it a hat trick next year?
